Set The World On Fire
Updated: Sep 5, 2019
Be who God meant you to be and you would set the world on fire. -Catherine of Siena
You were not made for comfort you were made for greatness. -Pope Benedict XVI
Recently, a friend from church (who is out of college) came and talked about The Culture Project-a ministry that helps teach middle to high school students about the importance of true love and pro-life movements. She dedicates her whole effort for at least one year giving talks and living the example of Christ's love. One teen I knew said she saved for billboards. I know what you may be thinking-WHAT!! That is a lot of money!! And-why would she do that? But, she traveled to different churches and raised enough money to post pro-life messages throughout her home town. She eventually spoke at a pro-life conference as a sophmore in high school! Wow! Another lady came to talk at my school about the importance of being pro-life as a teen. She asked us if we were willing to sit there while the vulnerable were attacked. What about you? If you do something, no matter how small, one day when abortion is hopefully beat, you can look back, and say "I helped that" or "That is gone because I stood up and helped". Set the world on FIRE! We are the generation that will beat this horrific thing. One day you will be remembered by something-personally, as a generation, I hope we will be remembered by our love of life and our willingness to defend it whenever necessary. My dad says "We protect life from the womb to the tomb". :) So now that you are hopefully "on fire" how do you fight our messed up culture? Here are some ideas to protect life in:
Family:
Pray daily for the respect of life, our government, and those affected by abortion. Emulate love and respect for your siblings, and parents (I sometimes find this difficult :)Start raising money or give unused clothing to homeless shelters Encourage family or relatives to be pro-life and act on it Bring your family to a march for life or prayer at Planned Parenthood
School:
Post encouraging notes and information on pro-life issues in restrooms or bulletin boards. Start a pro-life group of friends. Go to a march for life or prayer day at Planned Parenthood with friends Bring the joy of Christ to all (and I mean ALL people :)
Church:
Start diaper/clothing drives after mass. Pray and offer mass for those affected by abortion, our government, and for a greater respect of life Post pro-life information/resources on your church bulletin board. Offer to speak after mass about the importance of pro-life (ahhh!!)
Other:
Do a diaper/clothing drive. Volunteer at shelters or other organizations. Organize a trip to Planned Parenthood to pray. Go to a Christ in the City trip to evangelize
One helpful resource is https://studentsforlife.org/. It is just a pro-life source for anyone (especially teens through young adults). I hope that is helpful to you. Please keep evangelizing and beating our culture of death.
