Just Believe

"We must not want to solve all the difficulties against the Faith before we believe, in order that our life may not come to an end without faith. Simple faith gives us an even deeper understanding of the things of faith. By faith we subject ourselves to God. If we subject ourselves to God we shall live right; if we live right, our heart becomes pure; and if our heart is pure, we shall see the truth of what we believe."
-St. Augustine
Faith in this day and age is really hard. The world is constantly raising up objections to the faith: ridiculing it, telling us it isn't true, laughing at us for believing, and trying to scrape up every scrap of evidence to try to prove He doesn't exist. Sadly, this destroys the faith of many people. People who do not believe do everything in their power to make you doubt everything you believe and unfortunately, it often works. I think part of it is that people forget to step back down to the fact that...they believe.
As the quote says if we try to solve all of the objections it increases our chance of loosing our faith. If you are EVER doubting your faith just take a step back. Don't think about what you believe or even why you believe it, just think about the fact that you DO believe. I believe in God the Father Almighty. That is all you need to remind yourself of in times of doubt. "By faith we subject ourselves to God. If we subject ourselves to God we shall live right; if we live right, our heart becomes pure; and if our heart is pure, we shall see the truth of what we believe." You see by simply knowing that you do have faith you are putting your life in God's hands. And as the quote says, faith leads to a chain reaction that ends with you getting answers. You have faith and God leads you. When God leads you you lead a good and pure life. When you do that your heart grows pure. And of your heart is pure then you will see the answers through a clear mind.
Also, you will have a very hard time getting through these trials if you fixate on what doesn't make sense and do not spend time focusing on what you know and understand about our faith. People try to solve their problems with the faith and forget to remind themselves that they already have faith. Besides, everything in the faith has basic roots so all of your problems have an answer that will bring you back to the fundamental truths. Then, once you have addressed that, then you can go for the problem with a clear head. If you still can't figure it out find someone. You parents or sibling, your godparents, a friend that is strong in their faith, or of course a priest. So if you are doubting, start saying the apostles creed and find someone to help you out, while reminding your self that you DO believe, even if you can't figure it out.
For His Glory -Kateri
