Humility
Updated: Mar 21, 2020
Humility seems to be such a simple thing, while in reality it's usually very hard to achieve. I think this is because of how easy it is to feel pride. I mean think about it, when we do something great we usually have this big feeling of pride. We just can't wait to tell all of our friends what we did. We can't wait to tell all of our extended family. Now it's okay to feel pride, because if you never did that would be a sad way to live, the problem is that pride usually leads to bragging. It leads to us thinking we are superior than other people at what we accomplished so well.
So how can we feel pride for our action and still be humble? Simple. It's 100% okay to feel some pride. It's really important to feel some pride about our action or it will be incredibly hard to succeed in life like God wants us to. What we shouldn't do is go around telling the world what we did in a bragging manner or make sure everyone knows and respects you for what you did. You shouldn't ever feel superior over other people who didn't do as good as you. Do you know why? Because we couldn't have done it without God! Every accomplishment you make belongs to God because He was the one that made you capable of doing that. We should never feel superior about things because God made you capable of doing them. True humility doesn't mean feeling no pride. It's knowing that God is true source of all your action and accomplishments and acting in a manner that reflects that at all times.
